El Paso ranked as second safest city

November 24, 2009

El Paso routinely ranks as one of the safest cities in the United States, and this year is no different. Among U.S. cities with a population of 500,000 or more, El Paso was recently ranked the second safest city in the country by CQ Press, a research company known as a national source of impartial state and city ranking information. Since 2004, El Paso has been ranked either second or third in the annual report.

The rankings are based on statistics released by the Uniform Crime Reporting Program of the F.B.I. and are released by CQ Press in its annual City Crime Rankings. City Crime Rankings is one of five annual reference books published by CQ Press that analyze and rank states and cities in various categories. Other books rank states using data on health care, education, crime, and social and economic conditions

“El Paso has been chosen one of America’s safest cities for the sixth consecutive year,” said Bill Blaziek, General Manager of the El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau, “which means visitors to El Paso can expect to enjoy attractions, shopping, dining and culture in a safe and friendly environment.”
