El Paso Community College (EPCC) Theater Ensemble will be performing “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”. The first show is Thursday January 19th, 2012 and will continue the 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th, and 28th. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. The play will be held at the Forum Theater on the EPCC Transmountain campus, 9570 Gateway North. General Admission is $10 and $5 for students, military, and senior citizens 55 years or older.
The play, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, is a Tony Award winning show about six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by adults who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. The kids learn that winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a loser. These quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand put and fit in at the same time. The play is directed by Keith Townsend.
