El Paso Community College (EPCC) will observe Black History Month with events covering historical, musical, spiritual and timely aspects of this important celebration. EPCC annually honors those who have made important contributions to our nation. All events will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum Theater of the EPCC Transmountain campus, 9570 Gateway North. All events are free and open to the public.
This year’s activities kick off with “Choir Night: A Message in Song” on Monday, February 6. Tuesday, February 7 features “Jazz Night” with Mike Hamilton and Billy Townes. Mr. Phil Darius Wallace gives a look into history with “An Evening with Fredrick Douglass” on Saturday, February 11. Black History Month events conclude with “In the Spotlight.” Invited guest, Brigadier General Stephen M. Twitty, Deputy Commanding General of Fort Bliss, will speak.
EPCC will also have displays at all campus libraries for the entire month of February. Other activities include a special student art display dedicated to Frederick Douglass at the EPCC Transmountain campus library and an essay contact with cash prizes.
