Franklin Mountains Lower Sunset Trail Walk

Length: about 2.5 miles / 1.5 – 2 hours
*Difficulty Level: Moderate. Steep decent at the beginning, becoming level for a good distance of about a mile down an old jeep road; then take the lower sunset trail to the left, with short steep ascents, and fabulous views along the edges of the arroyos and off to the west. Finish with a short, steep climb back to Site 39.
Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes/boots, hiking stick, camera, binoculars, a map and dogs are welcome on leashes!
People who have a parks pass don’t have to pay the entrance fee, though. Visitors are recommended to make reservations for these hikes.
