Having entered the park, turn left at the first paved road. You will follow the paved road and park at the first area on the right. You will walk down the entrance road to the main park road to start the hike. You will head north and enter the first arroyo on the right going east. You will then take the first trail (Tom Mays Trail) 50 yards up the arroyo on the left. The trail runs east of and parallel to the main road about 1.5 miles to the end of the loop where the Tom Mays Trail ends. You then proceed to the large covered picnic area to the west. From the picnic area, take the wide rock trail south up the ridge line. The ridge line trail will bring you directly back to your vehicle, so watch for forks in the trail and try not to get sidetracked.
Trail Directions/Description: Each of these trails can be accessed through the Tom Mays Park entrance which if coming from the Westside of El Paso and from Interstate 10, take the Canutillo/Transmountain Road exit and turn right toward the Mountains. The park entrance is located to the left after nearly 3.8 miles. From the Eastside of El Paso taking Highway 54, exit Fred Wilson Road and turn toward the mountain, travel over Transmountain to the park entrance. All trails are subject to park hours and fees.
