As you drive the back way up scenic NM Highway 28 toward Las Cruces from El Paso, you can’t help but notice a lush 3-mile green canopy, created by the overlapping branches of pecan trees, shading the highway. This is Stahmann Farms, the world’s largest family-owned pecan grove. Stop! There’s a shop called Stahmann’s Country Store where you can sample (and buy) mouth-watering chocolates, pecan pie and other pecan confections. Don’t forget to ask for a tour of Stahmann’s shelling facility and candy factory.
