SWEET RIDES! The Art of TRANSPORTATION Award Exhibit Opening Reception Saturday, April 8, 2023 5-8pm

Vroom Vroom! Over 50 participating artists featuring sweet works in painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media and more! Area artists from El Paso, Las Cruces, Deming, Fort Hancock, including students from UTEP and area high schools.

So, please join us for a fun spring art exhibit that showcases all things that get you moving and somethings that keep you parked amongst the tall grass. Chugga chugga choo choo, it’s all about transportation. We are thrilled to have contemporary painter and UTEP Associate Professor of Art Tom Birkner judge this Sweet Rides show. Many of Tom’s paintings feature some sweet cars in all sorts of locations and happenings. In his generous way, Tom has offered to use his honorarium (for judging) to purchase art supplies for his talented students! Way to GO! Thank you, Tom!

We will also have a memorial tribute for Carmen Navar Cadenhead’s late husband Richard Cadenhead. Richard was a sweet rides enthusiast and photographer who built neat vintage cars that would take him far and wide. Also, at the opening, we will showcase some vintage cars that are always super fun to see.

Thank you to Carmen Navar and sister-in-law Teri Cadenhead Buess & brother-in-law Christopher Buess for your generous donations of two memorial awards in Richard’s honor. Two lucky artists will enjoy that monetary award to remember Richard.

Play ball!! The El Paso Locomotives Soccer Team has donated 4 game tickets and a signed soccer ball to be given out to one lucky artist!! Thank you, EP Locomotives!!
