The Shakespeare on-the-Rocks Theater Company will celebrate its 32nd season with The Tragedy of Hamlet at Old Sheepdog Brewery from April 12-14, 2024.

Hamlet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare and published in 1603. The play depicts Prince Hamlet and his revenge against his uncle, Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet’s father in order to seize his throne. Hamlet is considered among the most powerful and influential works of world literature, with a story capable of “seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others”. It was one of Shakespeare’s most popular works during his lifetime and still ranks among his most performed. Alexander Wright is making his Shakespeare directorial debut with Hamlet. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and the Sunday matinee will be at 2:00 pm.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults; $10 for full-time students with a valid ID; seniors 65 and older; and active duty military. For groups of 10 or more who reserve their tickets at least 48 hours in advance, tickets are $8 each. Call 915-474-4275 to arrange for group tickets. All tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the performance and seating is general admission.

The Festival is produced by Eden Enterprises in cooperation with the Old Sheepdog Brewery. Old Sheepdog Brewery was founded in 2018 with the goal of finding the perfect location to match their vision for a unique one-of-a-kind brewery experience in El Paso, Texas. The Brewery is located at 3900 Rosa Avenue in an older industrial warehouse built in the 1930s. Nestled in the heart of El Paso and sitting next to the iconic Lincoln Park murals, the building has been brought back to life with an art centered aesthetic through an overwhelming contribution from local talented artists.

About Shakespeare-On-The-Rocks: Hector Serrano, the festival’s artistic director, created the original festival at McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater in 1981 where it ran for four seasons. He revived it the first time in 1993 and directed it for ten years. Since 2004 SotR has made a home of many venues throughout the Sun City in order to broaden its audiences, as well as highlight local venues that are theater enthusiasts.
